Mission Statement

We offer temporary food assistance to families with children. A "Hand Up" helps families to rise above their current, temporary circumstances.

The foundation of our Ministry is based on James 2:15-17:(NET)

"If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,”
but you do not give them what the body needs, what good is it? So also faith, if it does not have works, is dead being by itself."

and Matthew 25:35-40:(NET)

"...And the King will answer them, ‘I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine,
you did it for me.'"

Our focus is to help fellow Believers, as we are commanded in Scripture.

"So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith." (Gal. 6:10)

Self-reported by organization

Mount Gilead Ministries is a non-profit organization committed to meeting the short term needs of those in our community through the Word of God, Education, Food Boxes and other miscellaneous items (as needed). We are here to be the "Heart and Hands of Jesus to Our Community".Our goal for the coming year is to reach more families in need with Biblical instruction and educational tools necessary for them to make better decisions in the selection and purchase of nutritional food products; to teach them how to develop a food budget, to delete non-nutritional foods and costly fast-foods; and to incorporate their food budget into an overall budget based on income and various factors. We also focus on complete budgeting education based on Biblical principles including tithing, giving and serving.

Program 1

Assistance to Needy Families

Mount Gilead Ministries is set up to temporarily assist families in need on a short term basis. Our services are aimed specifically at families with young children to ensure that certain necessities are met while the parents get back on their feet.We will visit with a family one-on-one to assess their specific needs and how our Ministry can temporarily assist them. We work on a word-of-mouth basis so the families we assist receive quality attention. We give out food boxes for 4 weeks (with required education classes), and children's clothing from Size 0 - 14 (when available). Free financial and budgeting information is given out with each food box.

Education and Budgeting Classes

God's Word and Education are the keys to a better life, which includes health and prosperity. We believe we are blessed to be a blessing to others. We feel our classes will enable families to improve their quality of life, and, in turn, be able to pass along what they have learned to others in need, becoming a blessing themselves.Commitment to all 4 weeks is extremely important for the information to be properly learned and implemented. Our goal is to help the families we assist to improve their quality of life by spending more wisely and efficiently so their money goes farther, thus stopping the cycle of living paycheck-to-paycheck.Free educational materials (financial and budgeting) are given out with each food box. Class schedule is as follows: Week 1 - Basic overview of the entire course of study. Bible-based teaching on Tithing and Seed Sowing. Finding a Bible-based church (support system and friends).Weeks 2 & 3 - Food buying: Working the System; Cutting Expenses and Budgeting.Week 4 - Reports on shopping success, discussion, introduction to cooking basics and meal planning, and a family-friendly movie.

STATEMENT FROM THE CoFounder/CEO

"Eagle's Wings Christian Library, Inc. was initially formed as a lending library to meet the educational needs of Christians and homeschoolers. As the years have progressed, a greater need has arisen - that being the need to educate families in how to use the Bible to address their daily needs. We have therefore refocused our goals by creating Mount Gilead Ministries as an outreach to our local community at large."
