Student Scholarship

TRTF awards scholarships to Texas college students pursuing a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in Education.  Since the program's inception in 2008, TRTF has awarded $22,500 in scholarship funds.  Applicants must be related to a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) and should include their transcripts with their application.  Applications are available between the months of November and March.

Classroom Assistance Grants

Classroom Assistance Grants are awarded to public school teachers who on a daily basis demonstrate commitment to public education and Texas children through the creation of programs, events, or other learning platforms.  Since 2008, TRTF has provided $18,000 in classroom assistance grants.

The Legacy Campaign

The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation values public education and its employees above all else.  The value provided by public education employees and retirees is immeasurable.  The purpose of the Legacy Campaign is to promote a positive image of Texas public education and the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS).  Our first video supporting this cause can be viewed at the following link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4IADf0dUnQ.

Funding Needs

The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation is in need of donations to support its four charitable programs: student scholarships, classroom assistance grants, "A Helping Hand" and the Legacy Campaign.  TRTF plans to raise $100,000+ in donations in 2012.  "A Helping Hand" and the Legacy Campaign are ongoing programs that may expand with the addition of funding.
