Mission Statement

Our mission at Thanks-Giving Square is rooted in human spirituality and love of the diverse. Our mission is: To offer a place for all people to give thanks to God, and to witness, to celebrate, and to promote the value and spirit of thanksgiving for both sacred and secular cultures throughout the world. This mission is carried out by programs of education and research. Thanks-Giving Square serves as a common ground, a sanctuary, where there can be a confluence of faiths and traditions in discussion of shared concerns. In Dallas, where it is located, Thanks-Giving Square is a central meeting place where the diverse people of the city can use thanksgiving as a way to heal divisions, and enhance mutual understanding.

Program 1

Thanks-Giving Square hosts seminars on gratitude and thanksgiving, educational programs for all ages, interfaith dialogues and prayer services, and cultural/religious diversity training. We sponsor a large interfaith breakfast on U.S. National Day of Prayer each year. We work with local, national and international organizations to promote peace and understanding. We conduct school, community and visitor group tours. Our Chapel of Thanksgiving provides a sanctuary for couples to marry and for memorial services. Our gardens give working people a tranquil, green oasis in the midst of hectic city.

ORGANIZATIONAL DEMOGRAPHICS

In order to support nonprofits and gain valuable insight for the sector, GuideStar worked with D5—a five-year initiative to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy—in creating a questionnaire. This section is a voluntary questionnaire that empowers organizations to share information on the demographics of who works in and leads organizations. To protect the identity of individuals, we do not display sexual orientation or disability information for organizations with fewer than 15 staff. Any values displayed in this section are percentages of the total number of individuals in each category (e.g. 20% of all Board members for X organization are female).
