Mission Statement

To improve the quality of public school instruction for urban children by promoting equity, excellence, and choice. To encourage magnet schools throughout the nation to stay in touch with each other, and provide information to others assisting them in initiating magnet schools, expanding offerings, and improving those magnet schools in existence.

Magnet Schools of America, now in its 31st year, has trained over 300 principals though the National Institute for Magnet School Leadership (NIMSL) and conducted training and hosted conferences around the country for over 1000 magnet school educators.
In 2012-13, Magnet Schools of America is investing in growing NIMSL to serve more schools and districts, and will begin a national marketing campaign to support magnet schools as a choice option that uniquely prepares students with 21st Century Skills to thrive in a global economy.
