Mission Statement Strengthen the management of nonprofit organizations. The MNC unites nonprofit organizations, business schools, and foundations in partnerships that facilitate the flow of highly qualified new management talent into nonprofits. Nonprofit organizations Connect nonprofit organizations quickly and easily with a valuable new audience of highly qualified management job candidates whom they can?t easily reach on their own. Business schools Support business school efforts to promote nonprofit careers, and help provide the resources needed by students and alumni who want to work in the nonprofit sector. MBA job seekers Connect interested business school students and alumni with appropriate nonprofit job opportunities and coach them to be effective job candidates. Foundations Broker new relationships between qualified management candidates and foundation grantees.

Program 1

The MNC functions as an extension of the career services and/or nonprofit management programs of its 30+ partner business schools. Our Career Jobs Program includes a nonprofit career job posting service and individual career advising. Our Summer Jobs Program works with nonprofit employers interested in hiring business school students for short-term assignments and helps them design jobs that make good use of management and business skills.

BIO

Prior to founding the MNC in 1995, Alison was assistant director of the Public Management Program at Stanford Business School (1989-1995). As associate director of Volunteers in Asia (1983-1987), she administered an English teaching program in China. Prior to that she taught English at an iron and steel institute in China and in public health offices in Indonesia. Her writing and editing experience includes revising two editions of The On-Your-Own Guide to Asia and jobs with local newspapers in Sun City, AZ and East Palo Alto, CA. She has completed consulting assignments for a public hospital (developing educational programs) and several community foundations (neighborhood grants program, study on corporate philanthropy). Alison has an MBA ('89) and a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and an MPS in Communication Arts from Cornell University.
