Overview

Self-reported by organization

The Children's Foundation International (TCF) is a non-profit 501c3 corporation founded in 1995 to help children and youth in desperate circumstances.
Our VISION is breaking the cycle of poverty and ignorance by supplying life-changing necessities, providing opportunities for youth and children to develop self-worth, educational success, and become productive, self-fulfilled members of society.

The F.E.E.D. Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 to provide scholarships for students who are excluded from continuing their education because of financial limitations, GPA averages, family situations, and other special circumstances allowing them opportunities that otherwise would not be possible.

TCF is funded through private contributions not by government or international agencies. The Children's Foundation's staff, board of directors, and volunteers work tireless and dedicated hours to seek funding in order to provide opportunity for children in desperate situations. None of our board members or volunteers receives financial compensation. Our paid staff is minimal consisting of an International Liaison, Project Coordinator, Marketing & Development, Bookkeeper, and an Assistant. We believe that all funds contributed should go towards the purpose that it was intended.

Ministries of Love is an outreach project based on the concept "love your neighbor as yourself." This project provides nutritional relief, medical attention, and educational opportunities to poverty-stricken children and families living in isolated mountain communities near Manzanillo.

Casa Hogar Los Angelitos Children's Home

The Casa Hogar Los Angelitos (CHLA) is an orphanage and children's home located in the area of Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. The Vision at CHLA is to provide a loving and secure home atmosphere, educational opportunity, spiritual & moral foundation, as well as emotional and physical health in a manner that can truly change the lives of children brought into CHLA's care. The Mission is to reach out to children in desperate situations and help them to develop their educational potential, gain emotional stability, hope for the future, and provide tools so that they can become positive, productive and self-fulfilled members of society. The children that come into the Casa Hogar Los Angelitos are from extreme poverty, abandoned or orphaned & many times from abusive and extremely distressed circumstances. Children ranging from birth to 18 years of age, and older if they choose to continue their education in a family atmosphere, are cared for at CHLA. Many of the children that come into care have limited or no education when they arrive; they are enrolled in the public school system, tutored and provided with continued educational support. In addition, medical, emotional & physical care is provided for the children at CHLA. Ministries of Love (Ministerios de Amor) is an outreach program based on the concept "love your neighbor as yourself." This project provides nutritional relief, medical attention, and educational opportunities to poverty-stricken children and families living in isolated mountain communities near Manzanillo. CHLA, in coordination with Ministerios de Amor, distributes food, clothing, school supplies and medical items to communities throughout the year.  CHLA provies general education and cultural programs for children and youth who, otherwise, would not have had that opportunity. Charting Impact

Self-reported by organization

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

  1. What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our MISSION is rescuing children and youth suffering from abuse, poverty, neglect, crime and abandonment by providing shelter, food, clothing, education, medical attention and opportunity for success.

  2. What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Casa Hogar Los Angelitos (CHLA), is a full-time children's home in Manzanillo, Mexico, funded through TCF. This children's home is for homeless, abandoned, orphaned and abused children. CHLA gives children emotional, mental and physical care, educational opportunities and a spiritual and moral foundation. CHLA programs are provided in a home atmosphere, designed to instill positive and productive attributes to permanently change the circumstances of these children. Our programs help build the children's self-esteem and develop a life with hope and opportunity.
  3. What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
To date we have a student who has been at Casa Hogar Los Angelitos for 9 years graduating for the University in the Dental field. We have three other students who are graduating high school and entering the University as well. We have a successful Expressive Arts program in our Ballet Folklorico, the kids are trained in cultural dances and perform internationally, proceeds from these performances help to keep the Expressive Arts program active. We average about 90 children who live full time in the Casa Hogar Los Angelitos.
  4. How will they know if they are making progress?
With kids growing up and graduating from high school and college, we believe this is making progress.
We continue to work diligently for support, sponsorship, donations and contributions.

  5. What have and haven't they accomplished so far?
We still need more sponsors and contributors. We have the potential to reach out to so many more kids in need. We just need the funding and support.
