ReadWest's Mission is to provide quality one-to-one tutoring to adults seeking to transform their lives through enhanced literacy skills. ReadWest serves adult students in Bernalillo and Sandoval Counties, New Mexico.

US Citizenship Exam Preparation

ReadWest's Adult Literacy program provides two 10-week courses to assist adult students with paperwork and learn the civics associated with the US Citizenship Exam. Students can also prepare for the exam with their one-to-one tutor. This course was designed for our students by a ReadWest Volunteer.

Adults needing to communicate in English are matched with a one-to-one tutor to learn basic survival English vocabulary. Once basic communication in English is achieved, the lessons begin to focus on basic reading and writing in English.

Muncie Hansen

BIO

Muncie Hansen, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (2013- present) is responsible for a wide range of responsibilities, including office management, program management, fiscal management, public relations, grant writing, and fundraising. Muncie Hansen served as RW Program Coordinator for 5 years and 2 years as an ESL volunteer Tutor before becoming Executive Director. She has a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is currently working full-time (40 hours) for RW. Having experienced all the positions available at RW, she is uniquely qualified to make the project a success. She has hired and trained the ReadWest staff, assists volunteers, and students and works closely with the Board of Directors.
