- 99 Pathway Scholars (aspiring teachers) completed 6-week summer institute that included their own learning plus teaching experience with mentoring and instruction from Award-winning teachers
- 12 school teams attended 3-day Teaching in Schools of Need conference
2010
- 7 preschool/elementary teachers to be honored with Golden Apple Award
- continue to serve returning Pathway Scholars
- 15 school teams to participate in Teaching in Schools of Need conference
- ongoing professional development for Golden Apple Award-winning teachers
2011
- seven high school teachers honored with the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching
- continue to serve 80-85 continuing Pathway Scholars with 3 different summer institutes providing teaching experience, mentoring, seminars
- convened Golden Apple Award winners to discuss and develop position paper on teacher evaluation

Funding Needs

Before the economic downturn and the impact on the New Mexico state budget, the Golden Apple Scholars Program was predominantly funded through the state Public Education Department.   Our challenge has been to serve continuing Scholars with private funding only.

"Our Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching has become recognized within New Mexico as the most prestigious to receive, given our comprehensive and in-depth selection process that includes classroom observation.  In our Scholars program, we are building knowledge and tools to support acquisition and support of teaching competencies.  Through all our programs, we emphasize the importance of professional learning community as the means to classroom excellence and continued growth, all for the benefit of student success as lifelong learners."
