Overview

Self-reported by organization

The association members own and maintain over 100 antique and classic aircraft many of which have been restored by the members.  Some of these aircraft are the only flying examples of their kind.  The chapter holds monthly displays of its antique aircraft which are open to the public.  Since 2003, the AAASDC has provided an average of 4 scholarships per year to support young people training for a career in aviation.

Program 1

Scholarships for Aviation Career Training

The AAASDC conducts an annual scholarship program to provide funding to individuals training for a career in aviation.  The costs to become a pilot or an aircraft mechanic have increased dramatically in the last few years.  This has been one of the reasons for the decline in pilot population in the U.S.
