Mission Statement

MATFA is a youth based program that works with youth incarcerated in the California Youth Authority from the ages of 13-18. We also have another institution in Chino with youth from the age of 18-25. MATFA mentors these youth, does a moral study, life skills on how to apply what they are taught in their daily walk of life. MATFA does family planning with these youths and their families once released from prison. We have a drug and rehabilitation program, job training program, job placement program, financial planning program, book writing program and the SOCAR program, (Saving Our Children At Risk.) The SOCAR program goes into the Long Beach Unified School Distrit to work with youth who are at risk of entering our judicial system. These youths are from the ages of 10-17.

Principal Officer

Minister Melanie Washington Lloyd

BIO

Melanie Washington CEO/Founder of MATFA envisions a world of peace amongst our young people, by teaching them about forgiveness. Melanie is a graduate of the hard knocks school of NO HOPE, but yet has risen above her circumstances and wants to help those that can't seem to help themselves. She has received the President's Award, William Allen of Boeing award, and countless more. On top of these very humbly recieved recognitions, she is a full time Supplier Managment Analyst with The Boeing Company while vigoursly running this non-profit organization. Melanie still sees Hope for our children, even when times are getting even harder for the young and the old. She is considering an elderly program to work along with the youth on day which would be a foster grandparent program. "The young and the old need to get together to lead each other and to take care of one another", she states.
