Blue Grass Community Foundation enhances the quality of life in our region through philanthropy and civic engagement. Since 1967, we've been connecting donors to the causes they care about. We help individuals, businesses and nonprofits channel their resources, establish charitable funds, meet community need, and make a difference. We believe that the power and passion of individual philanthropy leads to a stronger, better community for us all.
Blue Grass Community Foundation is the region's go-to source for giving and engagement. We know that we make the greatest impact when we work together, so we are always looking for ways to work more effectively with donors, nonprofits, and the community. DonorEdge allows us to improve our services to all three sectors. It gives nonprofits the opportunity to tell their stories, strengthen their presence, and educate donors about their missions; it allows donors to make more informed choices when deciding to give; and it provides the community with transparent, consistent, objective information.

Our donors meet their own philanthropic goals, while adding to the Foundation's overall strength. The Foundation also plays a major civic leadership role for our region through publishing fresh research, convening people to discuss our region's challenges, and creating powerful agendas for change.
The Boston Foundation (TBF) is a hub for community knowledge through our civic leadership work, grantmaking, and our unique role in facilitating giving for donors across Greater Boston. DonorEdge allows TBF to better serve donors and the community at large by enhancing TBF's research capacity, providing knowledge to the community, helping save nonprofits time, and enriching capacity building work. DonorEdge will serve as a cornerstone of our Nonprofit Services work to enhance the long-term vitality of the Massachusetts nonprofit sector.

The Community Foundation of Central Florida is a public grant making foundation established in 1994 as a home for Central Florida philanthropists. We are proud to be recognized as a knowledgeable philanthropic resource that provides donors, nonprofit organizations and professional advisors with expert gift planning advice. In addition, we are an experienced grantmaker and a community leader with a proven track record of serving as a platform for addressing a wide range of community issues and needs.
The Community Foundation launched our knowledge base in December 2009 to deliver Web-based information about the financial, operational and programmatic health of local nonprofit organizations that can influence the behavior of donors to drive results-oriented philanthropy. The knowledge base will also be used to diversify and create new sources of philanthropic capital to meet local needs and to build the capacity and measurably improve the performance of local nonprofit organizations.
As the world changes, so do the business models of community foundations. After a full market assessment, it became apparent to us that the traditional role of a catalyst for self-identified philanthropists must now become more focused on converting donors—and building the marketplace for philanthropy—rather than waiting for philanthropists to show up. Where we once cultivated relationships and waited for donor motivations (mostly out of our control) to drive major gifts, DonorEdge provides a powerful value proposition that will bring us more productive assets, while improving the measurement and value of our grantmaking. The new value proposition is knowledge—organic and more powerful than raw data—to fuel growth of assets and grantmaking through community leadership!

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven is dedicated to creating positive and sustainable change in Greater New Haven by increasing the amount of and enhancing the impact of community philanthropy.
We joined DonorEdge because we believe it has the potential to propel our efforts to increase the amount and impact of philanthropy in our local community. In addition to providing an easy-to-navigate and secure platform that elevates the fundraising and marketing presence of our local nonprofits, it has the capacity to serve as a community knowledge resource for donors and funders. The former is particularly powerful for the smaller nonprofits in our community that don't have sufficient resources to spend on donor cultivation and implementing a credit card processing system. The latter offers a "one-stop, local shopping" experience for donors and policymakers in a world where local nonprofits are competing for dollars against other area nonprofits as well as those around the globe.
We believe that the data presentation, design, and searchable functionality of DonorEdge can help donors make more strategic and better informed giving decisions. We also believe that the data we can collect will enable us to develop deeper relationships with our donors, nonprofits, and the broader community. Having access to such data gives us the ability to identify and analyze more easily giving interests, trends, and patterns as well as common issues and opportunities in the nonprofit sector—all of which will be used to strengthen our donor communications and services, inform our planning and grantmaking decisions, and update policymakers about the specific need(s) for resources in our region. The Community Foundation will officially launch giveGreater.org to the public in November 2010 to kick off the giving season.

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee is a leader, catalyst, and resource for philanthropy in Middle Tennessee. From our beginning in 1991, we have helped donors and nonprofit organizations realize their charitable intentions and make an impact. Quite simply, The Community Foundation exists to connect generosity with need, bringing good people and good causes together to enrich the quality of life in Middle Tennessee.
The Community Foundation works as a leader and convener, identifying community opportunities and then cultivating the resources needed to affect solutions. The Community Foundation works with many community partners to find creative effective means to take advantage of these opportunities. We respect and appreciate the efforts of local nonprofits and their leaders. They are our partner in giving, and together we serve as a resource for donors who want to make an impact through their grantmaking.
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee began talking about a "community file cabinet" for nonprofit information in 1995. We envisioned our foundation as the go-to place for up-to-date information about the nonprofit sector. The launch of GivingMatters.com moved forward The Community Foundation's strategic plan to serve as a community leader and philanthropic knowledge center. In 2005, the DonorEdge partnership with The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation provided the technology needed to enact our strategic vision.
GivingMatters.com is funded by an alliance of 26 area funders, many of whom have integrated GivingMatters.com into their grantmaking to varying degrees.
GivingMatters.com creates transparency and allows free access to nonprofit information, making smart giving possible for all donors—large and small.

The Community Foundation Serving Richmond & Central Virginia (TCF) has been active in our community since 1968. A community foundation is a public charity that helps area citizens accomplish their philanthropic goals through named charitable funds and endowments. From these funds, grants and leadership initiatives are supported to help address the region's unmet and changing community needs and to strengthen and support nonprofit organizations and purposes of interest to our donor families.
Today, TCF represents more than 600 named charitable funds and 8 supporting foundations or affiliated entities. Each year in our region, community philanthropy grows as new donors, new donor families, and new planned and estate gifts add to this legacy of giving. Beyond the lifetimes of family advisors, TCF's board of governors provides stewardship to address long-term community needs on an unrestricted basis or in broad areas of interest suggested by the donor, such as education, arts, health.
Over the past four decades, we have worked together with our donors and supporting foundations to grant more that $500 million dollars to hundreds of nonprofits that make our common home a better place.
One of the priorities of The Community Foundation is to promote philanthropy by educating donors about the region's nonprofit sector. We want to make sure that our donors at all giving levels, involved with The Community Foundation or not, have the resources they need to make informed giving decisions. We are also interested in helping our nonprofit partners achieve long-term sustainability by giving them the tools to become more transparent and efficient. We believe that bringing the DonorEdge product to Richmond and Central Virginia will help meet all of these needs. With DonorEdge, individual donors will have access to in-depth information about specific nonprofits as well as collaborative efforts in which multiple organizations are working together to advance solutions for the region's most pressing issues. For the nonprofits, DonorEdge provides a platform to tell their stories—engaging current donors and cultivating new donors in a way that was not previously available. The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are honored to be a part of this venture.

The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation created DonorEdge to change donor behavior so that donors not only invest resources more wisely, but also demand greater community change for their investments. DonorEdge is the only initiative of its kind in the country because DonorEdge combines the power of the online marketplace with community-based relationships and knowledge, elements that a community foundation is uniquely situated to provide.

Kern Community Foundation is a vibrant nonprofit enterprise created by and for the people of Kern County. Our mission is growing community and growing philanthropy. We carry out this mission by providing valuable experiences and knowledge to donors, generating capital for Kern County's most needed social programs, and helping to improve the performance of vital nonprofit organizations. Since 1999, Kern Community Foundation has grown to more than 90 charitable funds with assets of nearly $14z million and has awarded cumulative grants of more than $6 million.
Kern Community Foundation is known as a home for Kern community philanthropists, a results-oriented grantmaker, and a trusted community leader. Since its inception, the foundation's leadership has held a long-standing belief that a healthy nonprofit sector is essential to the overall quality of life in the Kern community. When Jeff Pickering joined the foundation as president and CEO in April 2010, he helped the Foundation's leadership to recognize that, although more than 1,700 nonprofit organizations receiving millions of dollars in charitable contributions were registered in Kern County, no comprehensive resource existed to help local donors make smarter decisions and achieve greater impact from their charitable giving. Guidestar's DonorEdge was approved as part of a comprehensive plan to boost the foundation's value as the "go-to" resource for community knowledge through an online Nonprofit Search. By joining DonorEdge, Kern Community Foundation hopes to strengthen its role as a trusted community leader by providing a credible platform that gives donors the knowledge they need to turn simple acts of giving into wise charitable investments.
