Experts were asked to recommend nonprofit organizations that support people with any of the following: developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental disabilities, blindness, and deafness. Nonprofits might provide transportation, health care, housing, employment and other services.
Philanthropedia surveyed 79 experts who worked in the disabilities field (with an average of 20 years of work experience in the field). They were asked to recommend high-impact nonprofits working with people with disabilities on a national level. Philanthropedia’s experts (funders, researchers, nonprofit senior staff, veterinaries, etc.) identified 11 top nonprofits (out of 150 total reviewed nonprofits) making an impact at the national level.
