GuideStar for Education offers academic researchers, instructors, and their students complimentary access to GuideStar's database of information on more than 1.8 million nonprofit organizations.

Who is eligible?
GuideStar for Education is open to:
Professors, instructors, and their students performing coursework at accredited colleges and universities
Researchers engaged in unsponsored or unfunded research projects
What's the difference between sponsored and unsponsored research?
Sponsored research is research that is funded by a grant, or for which you receive a stipend. Unsponsored research is that for which you receive no compensation.
How do I enroll?
Click on Professor/instructor or Unsponsored academic researcher link on the
GuideStar for Education page
. Complete and submit the enrollment form.
How will I know if I've been accepted?
You'll be notified by e-mail within five business days.
Is this program exclusively for professors, students, and researchers of nonprofit management studies or public administration?
Professors, students, and researchers from other disciplines within accredited colleges and universities are welcome to apply. GuideStar's data has proven useful to students of journalism, finance, business, information technology, and other areas.
I'm a professor/instructor whose class has been accepted into the program. How do I administer the permissions for each student?
To administer the permissions:
Log in.
Click My Account in the upper right corner.
Click Manage My Subscriptions.
Click Manage Users.
Enter each student's e-mail address. (Note: to gain access to his or her GuideStar Premium subscription, each student must be registered on GuideStar.)
What password should each of my students use to access GuideStar Premium?
Each user to whom you assign GuideStar Premium access must
register on GuideStar
; there is no charge for registering. As part of the registration process, each user will create his or her own password. He or she can then log in with his/her own e-mail and password to access GuideStar Premium.
After I enrolled my course in GuideStar for Education, more students transferred into my class. How do I enroll these additional students in GuideStar for Education?
You'll need to complete the on-line enrollment form again to request the additional seats. When your request is approved, you'll see the new GuideStar Premium seats in My Account. Add the new students' e-mail addresses to these seats.
