GuideStar Charity Check Adds Three New Features

Grantmakers asked. We listened.

GuideStar Charity Check, the same great grantmaker tool that the industry has relied on for 10 years, now works even harder so that you can do your job more efficiently. Based on feedback from Charity Check users, we've added three new features:

1. Organization Watch List and Automatic E-mail Alerts: When We Find Out, You Find Out

Get continuous, up-to-date information on the nonprofits you need to keep track of.

  • Set up as many as nine kinds of e-mail alerts, including automatic revocation, IRS BMF exclusion, change in subsection code, Publication 78 exclusion, and OFAC inclusion
  • Create and manage a watch list of up to 20,000 organizations
  • Add individual nonprofits to your watch list, or import hundreds—even thousands—of organizations from Excel spreadsheets

    • A direct link to the IRB in which the revocation was published

3. Group Exemption Display with Parent Linkage

Now GuideStar Charity Check makes finding these subordinates and identifying their parent organizations easy:

  • Immediately identify a subordinate organization in either its GuideStar Charity Check report or preview pane
  • Find the parent organization's name and EIN (Employer Identification Number) as well as the group exemption number in both the subordinate's report and its preview pane
  • Link directly from either the subordinate's report or preview pane to the parent organization's GuideStar Charity Check report

We've kept the things you've come to rely on

With just a couple of clicks, you still get a report that:

  • verifies charitable status in IRS Publication 78;
  • uses BMF data to identify supporting organizations;
  • identifies type of supporting organization, where the IRS has made that information available;
  • confirms whether a grantee has been named on the Automatic Revocation of Exemption List;
  • confirms whether a grantee has been named on the OFAC list of organizations supporting or engaged in terrorism;
  • is date- and time-stamped; and
  • can be printed or saved in PDF to document your due diligence.
