Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
At Journey with Equus, we exist in a space where the heart meets the hoofbeat. Where the whispers of the equine spirit echo through the wind and dance around the soul, urging us to listen, to understand, to act.
Can you hear it? The soft nicker of a horse calling out for sanctuary, yearning for a haven where they can simply be. A place where their worth isn't measured by how far they can run, how high they can jump, or how much weight they can bear. Our mission is to provide that sanctuary, that safe haven where every horse is celebrated for who they are, not what they can do.
But have you ever considered the gifts these majestic creatures have to offer beyond being ridden? Imagine a world where horses are recognized as healers, as teachers, as guides. At Journey with Equus, we don't just imagine this world we strive to create it.
Horses have an uncanny ability to mirror our emotions, to unearth our deepest fears and insecurities, and guide us towards healing and self-discovery. They stand as silent witnesses to our struggles, offering comfort without judgement, love without conditions.
And so, we ask you this what if the cure for trauma, the antidote for life-threatening illness, the key to self-discovery and personal leadership, lies not in a pill or a book, but in the gentle eyes of a horse?
The need is urgent, the cause is noble, and the rewards are immeasurable. Join us on this journey, as we challenge the assumptions, break the chains of convention, and work tirelessly to provide a sanctuary for these incredible animals. Together, let's create a world where humans and horses heal together, grow together, and lead together.
Are you ready to take the first step on this transformative journey with Equus?
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
At Journey with Equus, we weave a narrative of hope and healing, a tale spun from the silken threads of empathy and understanding. Our strategies are as multifaceted as the horses we champion and as profound as the people we serve.
Our first strategy is to raise funds for a Memorial Arena. This arena will not simply be a structure of wood and steel but a beacon of hope for those locked in the fierce battle against cancer. It will be a sanctuary, a place of respite and strength, where loved ones can stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity, their spirits buoyed by the courage and resilience mirrored in our equine companions.
Secondly, we provide an array of programs designed to unpack trauma, foster leadership development, and facilitate self-discovery. We believe that everyone has a story, a narrative that shapes who they are. Our aim is to help individuals rewrite their narratives, transforming pain into power, fear into courage, and uncertainty into clarity.
At the heart of our strategies are our incredible coaches and our equine partners. These horses, saved from despair and given new purpose, are the silent heroes who guide us on our journey. Their wisdom is profound, their love is unconditional, and their truth is unwavering. They lead us to places within ourselves that we never knew existed, unveiling insights that resonate deep within our souls.
In every stride, in every nicker, in every gentle nudge, they share with us lessons of resilience, of bravery, and of unyielding spirit. They challenge us to face our fears, to embrace our strengths, and to live our truths. And in doing so, they inspire us to become the best versions of ourselves.
We believe that together, with your support, we can illuminate the path towards healing and self-discovery, empowering individuals to chart their own course amidst life's storms. Join us on this transformative journey and help us turn the tide against animal cruelty, one horse, one heart, one story at a time.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
At Journey with Equus, we are the narrators of a potent tale of hope and healing. A story spun from the threads of empathy and understanding, our work paints a picture as vibrant and varied as the horses we safeguard and as deep as the individuals we support.
Our foremost strategy is to mobilize funds for the creation of the John Averitt Memorial Arena. This arena will stand as more than just a physical entity; it will serve as a beacon of hope for those embroiled in the relentless fight against cancer. It will emerge as a sanctuary, a haven of solace where loved ones can band together in solidarity, their spirits uplifted by the mirrored courage and resilience of our equine companions.
Moreover, we offer an array of programs meticulously designed to untangle trauma, nurture leadership skills, and facilitate self-discovery. We stand firm in our belief that everyone has a unique narrative shaping their identity. Our goal is to assist individuals in reshaping these narratives, transforming pain into power, fear into bravery, and doubts into certainty.
Our strategies are anchored in the profound bond between our exceptional coaches and our equine partners. Rescued from despair and bestowed a new purpose, these horses are the silent heroes guiding us on our journey. Their wisdom runs deep, their love knows no bounds, and their truth is unwavering. They lead us to unseen corners within ourselves, unveiling insights that echo in the depths of our souls.
With each hoofbeat, each gentle whinny, each tender touch, they impart invaluable lessons of resilience, bravery, and indomitable spirit. They challenge us to confront our fears, acknowledge our strengths, and live authentically. In doing so, they inspire us to evolve into the best versions of ourselves.
We are currently embarking on a 3.5 million dollar fundraising project to secure the land under Journey with Equus and build the John Averitt Memorial Arena, dedicated to a man who cherished horses and whose life was tragically cut short by pancreatic cancer. Our founder is a certified equine gestalt practitioner, and we are fortunate to have a network of other coaches willing to donate their time.
We firmly believe that together, with your invaluable support, we can light the path towards healing and self-discovery, enabling individuals to chart their own course amidst life's storms. We invite you to join us on this transformative journey and help us stem the tide of animal cruelty, one horse, one heart, one story at a time.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have offered programs on a small scale since covid. We are now building for the future. We are currently working on collaboratie partnerships to launch our fundraising project in first quarter. We will be launching more programs in May as the weather warms.
Planning is in place, as we finalize the commitments of those who will be joining the journey this year

- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
