What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The WRCC was formed in 1973 in response to the lack of resources available to rape survivors. In addition to providing services for survivors of sexual violence, the WRCC works to end the threat of violence in women's lives.
Trained staff and volunteers answer our hotline 24 hours a day. We provide personal support and referral information for recent and past survivors of sexual violence, their families and friends.
Through our advocacy program, we assist survivors in reporting to police and accompany survivors to the hospital and through the legal process. Our hotline and advocacy services are free and completely confidential.
Our Education Program offers violence awareness and prevention workshops on issues surrounding sexual violence. We speak to students and community members of all ages throughout Chittenden County.
Through public awareness campaigns like Sexual Violence Awareness Month, and the Clothesline Project, we seek to break the silence surrounding sexual violence and raise awareness of our services for survivors.
