What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Early Childhood Nutrition Outreach Program
Hunger Free Vermont is increasing the number of children who are served nutritious meals in child care by helping more Vermont child care providers access the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The food program provides child care centers, home-based child care, and after-school programs with nutrition education and reimbursements for the meals and snacks they serve to young children in their care.
School Meals Expansion Program
Hunger Free Vermont assists schools in establishing and expanding school breakfast and lunch programs, which provide a reliable source of nutrition for school age children.
Out-of-School Time Nutrition Outreach Program
Hunger Free Vermont helps community groups provide nutritious meals to low-income children during out-of-school time – during the summer months and in afterschool programming.
The Learning Kitchen
Hunger Free Vermont's Learning Kitchen program empowers low-income Vermonters to make healthy food choices by increasing awareness of balanced nutrition, emphasizing the importance of regular physical activity and fruit and vegetable intake, and improving cooking skills.
3SquaresVT Outreach and Education Program
Hunger Free Vermont improves access to and participation in 3SquaresVT (formerly the Food Stamp Program) which provides one of the most reliable, consistent, and dignified means for low-income Vermonters to supplement their nutritional needs.
