GEMS International Child Sponsorships
Outreach Asia - GEMS Heart Outreach Child Sponsorships - $180/year
Located in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines -
Like its partner Outreach Asia Inc., GEMS focuses on sustainable programs that build capacity rather than simply provide one-time handouts. With funding from sponsorships, donations and grants, GEMS president Buenasflores and her two staff members (also long-time former CCF employees) target the following areas: sustainable health, nutrition and environmental sanitation; early child care and development; family life development; and educational support. Other programs and services will be developed as needs are identified by the community, target clients and other stakeholders. This process is conducted with a participatory approach.
Currently we have 50 children under sponsorships from around the world. Our goal is 100 by December, 2010.
Leprosy Support Program
Outreach Asia supports 207 lepers living in Ben Tre, Vietnam and 100 lepers in Mindanao, Philippines. Livelihood programs such as pig raising and high value crops have been our focus. However, each Christmas, we fundraise to give the lepers some health products and food items. In Ben Tre and Mindanao, Philippines, just $16 will sponsor a leper's Christmas. Please consider joining us for the upcoming summer support project and the 2010 Christmas program for these lepers.
