What we aim to solve
Franklin County is the second most impoverished county in the state of Massachusetts. It has a staggering geographic area that covers more than 700 square miles, many of them rural, many of them without resources. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County works to address the inequities faced by those youth ages 6-18 facing adversity.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Community Based Mentoring
We provide carefully matched and professionally supported one to one mentoring opportunities to children facing adversity. Our community based mentoring program matches these children most in need with adult volunteer mentors.
Site Based Mentoring
We provide carefully matched and professionally supported one to one mentoring opportunities to children ages 6-11 facing adversity. Our site based mentoring programs matches these children most in need with teen volunteers at two local preparatory schools. These matches meet most Friday nights throughout the school year and last approximately 18 months.
E-Mentoring
Franklin County youth ages 6-18 are matched in caring mentoring relationships with a volunteer mentor. They meet 100% virtually utilizing current technology. They are guided and supported by our trauma informed case managers. This program is in its first year.
