Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

After School Drop-In Programs

We serve approximately 1,000 youth members annually, many of whom take part in our after school drop-in programs in the gymnasium, games room, computer room, arts and crafts room, library and swimming pool. Various social, educational and recreational activities take place and members have the opportunity to get some physical exercise, learn new skills and interact with their peers.

Population(s) Served

Free homework assistance is provided by volunteer tutors daily. Youth members are free to visit the homework room and receive help from volunteer tutors.

Population(s) Served

We offer an 8-week summer camp program at the Hale Reservation in Westwood, MA for children ages 7-13. 50-60 children are bussed daily to and from camp each week. Activities include swimming, boating, archery, arts and crafts, field games and short hikes through wooded pathways.

Population(s) Served

Youth members in second and third grades are organized into teams and volunteer coaches teach them the basic fundamentals of basketball. A 10-game season is held and an awards ceremony at the end of the season. This program is probably the single most appreciated program that we conduct annually. Each season 80-100 boys and girls take part in this popular program.

Population(s) Served

Approximately 40-60 youth members are organized into our Club Swim Team who compete against other Boys and Girls Clubs in the area. They are instructed in proper stroke technique by adult coaches. Weekly swim meets are held throughout the winter giving children an opportunity to learn to take instruction/coaching and the thrill of competition. Children are introduced to the competitive aspects of swimming in a low-key and friendly manner.
