What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Lighthouse history

Our education program includes school field trips to the lighthouse as well as having people stay overnight to learn about conservation principles and the resourcefulness needed for old-fashioned light-housekeeping -- lessons that will serve visitors (young and old) well into the future.

Population(s) Served

To educate adults and children about lighthouse keepers lifestyles and conservation.

Population(s) Served

RILF is committed to preserving the beautiful Rose Island Lighthouse as an important part of the maritime history of Newport, RI and Narragansett Bay. We provide public access for tours of the lighthouse and the island. We encourage visitors to stay overnight and also to stay for a week and act as a lighthouse keeper.
