Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Residential Programs
ARI operates four 24/7 community living arrangements in the Stamford community. We maintain clean, safe and personalized homes that blend well with other homes in the neighborhood. Individuals are encouraged to achieve personal goals (which they select) as well as participate in their group
activities. Staff members assist individuals by providing structured and consistent training in the areas of daily living (including money management,) cooking, laundry, personal hygiene, use of public transportation, and positive interaction with other people. We strive to provide training in those skills which will enable individuals to live in the least restricted setting.
ARI also provides Individual Home Supports Services for individuals who are generally able to live independently, but require some assistance in order to do so. Many individuals living in group homes, or with families, develop the skills to be able to live on their own. Those who have the necessary skills can opt to live in their own apartment or house. The feeling of ownership and independence is inborn, and is equally as strong in people with disabilities. We recognize that these ndividuals still need assistance, but also that they must be given the opportunity to enhance their skills in order to live on their own. We currently serve 19 people living in their own apartments throughout the Stamford area. We work with each individual to increase their independence and to assist them in developing an active role in their community.
