What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - Children

Outpatient counseling for children ages 4 to 16 and their families are provided for those who have experienced or witness trauma, including but not limited to domestic abuse, sexual or physical abuse and neglect.  More than 20% of the children seen at CMHA's Child Guidnace Clinics meet criteria for PTSD and many more exhibit symptoms consistent with PTSD.Traumatized children have symptoms including nightmares, intrusive thoughts and images and a high level of anxiety.  As a result educational, social and interpersonal functioning is impaired.  Intensive counseling helps bring these children and their families into a safer, more positive and functioning mode of living.
