Food and Support Services for Orphaned Children
a) Feeding the Hungry: Food For Children began its ministry by feeding the hungry in Asia, Africa and America. This work continues today through local community projects, such as the Cattle Farm and local restaurant in Usuk, Uganda. b) Shelter: Food For Children has collaborated throughout the years with New York City homeless shelters to assist those women with children who had nowhere to stay. c) Holiday Toys: Each year we collect toys for distribution to children in homeless shelters. d) Water-Well Development: Since 1984, FFC became involved in the creation of water wells. Along with nutritious food and basic medicines, clean water is a vital resource for improved health. e) Summer Camp Recreation Program: Food For Children helped to sponsor a summer camp recreation program for 80 street children of Baguio City, Philippines. f) Eradicate Preventable Childhood Diseases: The W.H.O. has identified six main vaccine-preventable diseases: Diphtheria, Measles, Polio, Tetanus, Tuberculosis, and Pertusis. These diseases can be conquered with the proper medications. By collaborating with the Cry for the World Foundation, and the Pharmaceutical Programme we can provide medications and vaccines for children in developing countries. g) AIDS: 40 million people worldwide are infected with HIV, resulting in a large orphan population. Food for Children has provided nutritional support for orphans in Africa. h) AFRICA - Living below the poverty line: It is estimated that 80% of all Africans live below the poverty. Africa has been devastated by draught, famine, war, and AIDS. Food For Children is especially devoted to this region of the world where the need is so great, and asks for all people to unite to help Africa.
