What we aim to solve
Pets Alive Inc is a resource to the community to house and re-home companion animals in need. Our mission is to serve homeless pets by providing them the rehabilitation, care and training required to place them through the adoption program.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Saving, Rehabilitating and Adopting Animals
Saving animals, including Dogs, Cats, Horses and other animals from euthanasia by pulling them from other shelters, encouraging local shelters to place them with us instead of killing them, and accepting owner turn-ins from local households.
Humane Education
Helping the next generation to develop empathy toward animals, and getting them to acknowledge and understand that they are sentient beings.
We need to plant seeds about the concepts of euthanasia, about spaying and neutering, and especially about sentience.
Pet Chow Pantry
Pet food pantry for residents in Orange County, NY who cannot afford pet food without some assistance.
Pet Retention
We offer the skills and knowledge of our onsite trainers and staff to reduce pet surrenders to shelters as well as to encourage successful adoption placements
Trap, Neuter and Release
Pets Alive is the only formal TNR program for the City of Middletown and surrounding areas. Cats are trapped for the purpose of spay/neuter, vaccinations and any other medical care needed. Feral cats are released back into their existing colonies and monitored as needed. Friendly cats and all kittens are placed in the adoption program
Senior for Senior Fosters
Working together with the County Office of the Aging this program helps put senior animals into the homes of senior people providing companionship and comfort to both.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The goal of Pets Alive is to see the end of euthanasia of healthy, adoptable, treatable and rehabilitated animals in the United States. To provide sanctuary to those animals unable to reenter the general population through adoption but should be afforded the basic right to life and safety.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Pets Alive believes in the collaboration with multiple rescue and advocacy groups both local and nationwide to bring awareness as well as to save animals in need
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Pets Alive has a strong following both on social networking as well as on the ground through volunteerism.
We have a long and rich history of rescuing animals in need and providing the highest quality of care.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have seen a nation of approximately a hand full of no kill communities begin to grow and build and we are now seeing approximately 400 cities nationwide adopt the strategies and philosophies of the no kill movement
