Peer Outreach Education Program

The Peer Outreach Education Program deploys four (4) teams of Peer Outreach Educators who are trained to deliver HIV prevention messages and safer sex materials to individuals at risk of HIV infection in South Brooklyn.  Peer Outreach Educators are supervised by a full-time Peer Coordinator who works closely with the Executive Director to develop strategies to reach at risk populations including sex workers, intravenous drug users and those engaged in unsafe sex practices incluing unprotected sex and sex with multiple partners.  Strategies include targted and enhanced outreach techniques, community presentations, tabling and dissemination of information, and community wide events during specific days such as World AIDS Day and National HIV Testing Day.  Each year the Peer Outreach Education Program reaches in excess of 2,000 indivisduals with HIV prevention messages.
