Programs and results
What we aim to solve
We connect artists and audiences, children and adults, and strengthen and enliven communities through diverse exposure, access to, and participation in the arts
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Tahawus Cultural Center
The cultural center occupies the two upper floors of the 3-storey building; the 2nd floor Windows Gallery and Education Space, and the 3rd floor Cloudsplitter Dance Studio. Two local business occupy the ground floor. As a gathering place for learning and a catalyst of community growth, Tahawus Center engages people with a range of expressions in the arts in programs including art, film, music, dance, and STEM. Tahawus serves as a vital space where people connect with each other around familiar and unfamiliar topics. Tahawus is proud to play its role to support and inspire its community and its visitors.
Rebecca Kelly Ballet
In June 2021, after 4o years of developing new ballets in its SoHo studio and presented works-in-preview at City Center Studios in New York City, Rebecca Kelly Ballet moved to its new location, the Tahawus Center Cloudsplitter dance studio in Au Sable Forks, NY. RKB conducted ONSTAGE, a popular summer performance program for youth and pre-professional dancers. This was offered in Lake Placid, and Potsdam, NY from 1987 until 2019. RKB toured and taught throughout the upstate NY region from Plattsburgh to Potsdam, and Lake Placid to North Creek. Kids Co-Motion, RKB's education program for rural and urban children, was operated in NYC since 1992- 2019, providing productive, vocabulary-building activities in music and motion for early childhood. The SoHo Teen program provided a dynamic after-school course of study in modern and ballet techniques and in choreography.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We have two main programs: TAHAWUS CENTER, its goal is to enrich the lives of those within its reach through a diverse program of arts, education, and social experiences for people of all ages, and to offer productive training and events to inspire and cultivate a “can do" approach to creative entrepreneurship. Using the Center's Windows Art and Education Gallery and Cloudsplitter Dance Studio is a hub for vitality, culture and community in Au Sable Forks, NY, and spurring Main St revitalization in the green renewal of a 100-year former Masonic Lodge.
REBECCA KELLY BALLET, the contemporary chamber company based in the Adirondacks and NYC is focused on the creation and presentation of professional performances of original ballet's. The choreographer's humanists themes often reflect social issues, and stewardship for the environment. AFI seeks funds for the creation of new ballets, scholarships and support for its education programs for youth, OnStage and Kids Co-Motion programs and its programs in the Adironacks of New York.
