Mission

Founded in 1991, LCA seeks to advocate for the improvement of services for Latino senior citizens. This mission is principally achieved through a varied educational process, including electronic and printed media, and conducting conferences and seminars, which address critical issues affecting the Latino elderly. Our organization began through the efforts of volunteers who were committed to advocate on behalf of the Latino elderly. The population of elderly Latinos is the fastest growing segment of the over-60 population in New York City, South Florida and other important cities around the United States. Elderly Latinos often do not speak English, and are twice as poor as other elderly people.

LCA's programs include activities in areas of education and advocacy.
Advocacy: The goal of our advocacy work is to influence initiatives, which will serve the needs of the Latino elderly population. We work toward this goal through testifying at public hearings, and utilizing other venues design to impact public policy.
Media Outreach: The goal of this program is to educate the Latino elderly population, who are frequently homebound, through electronic and printed media activities.
