Sister Cities works to connect and strengthen movements for social justice in the U.S. and El Salvador by sharing accompaniment, experiences and advocacy.  We strive to build a new kind of globalization, one built from the ground up and united by human values of justice and solidarity.

Promoting people-to-people solidarity relationships

Promoting people-to-people solidarity relationships between the United States and El Salvador.Our solidarity realtionships involve mutual community accompaniment, organizing, education, and fundraising for local community development projects in El Salvador.

Population(s) Served

When communities in rural El Salvador learned that Canadian and U.S. corporations were exploring for gold on their their land in 2006, they began a national movement to educate and resist gold mining in El Salvador.As a national network, Sister Cities educates about gold mining and takes action to publicize the issue, and share the experience of Salvadoran communities with the US population. We also support the Salvadoran communities in their quest for rights to water and environmental protection,

We work for social change by building and defending sustainable communities and economies based on solidarity, dignity, and self-determination.   We have prioritized supporting and defending human rights as a principal focus of that work, learning abour human rights priorities from our partners in El Salvador.

using techniques we have learned from our partners in the social movement of El Salvador.
