Faith and Hunger Network

Faith and Hunger Network is an inclusive, interfaith and interdenominational alliance of NYS faith communities working together to produce a more concerted and forceful witness for social justice. The network focuses on moving faith communitities from the role of  charity to justice in the effort to end hunger in the state.

Population(s) Served

Hamilton Hill Food Processors (HHFP) is a small scale commercial kitchen located in inner city Schenectady New York and used to produce "Health Community Harvest" products. The goal of the project is to create markets for local farmers, provide job training and development for area residents, provide local emergency feeding programs with free, nutritious shelf stable food products for their guests. Proceeds from sales to the general public are used to support the program.

Hunger Action Network conducts research on issues effecting poor and hungry New Yorkers and makes recommendations for changes in public policies as appropriate. Areas of concern include Welfare program policies, Living wages, job creation, affordable housing, access to health care, federal nutrition programs and food policy.
