Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Population(s) Served

Our flagship series, featuring the full orchestra performing great orchestral works from Baroque to contemporary, including pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and many others.  14 pairs of concerts each season.

Population(s) Served

All the best in popular music, featuring our amazingly versatile orchestra in concerts that feature jazz, movie music, Broadway and more.  Led by Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik.  At least 10 pairs of concerts each season, plus additional performance of Holiday Pops.

Population(s) Served

Share the magic of the RPO with your children! These engaging concerts explore the many different things that inspire us - a great opportunity to think about how we're influenced by everyday things around us. Fun for all ages but designed for families with children ages 3-9.  Led by Principal Conductor for Education and Outreach Michael Butterman.  4 concert pairs per season.

Population(s) Served

The RPO was one of the first orchestras in the country to create a music education program for children, and it continues to be a leader in formulating age-appropriate, sequential learning programs that can be fully integrated into school curricula. The RPO’s education programs follow children from pre-school through college, and the Orchestra collaborates with school districts in our region to ensure that each child in Rochester is exposed to and enriched by beautiful music.

Programs include Tiny Tots, geared towards kids ages 3-6; Primary Concerts for 1st-3rd graders; Intermediate Concerts for 4th-6th graders, and the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
