What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue
Akindale is a small non-profit organization in Pawling, NY that provides safe-haven and new opportunities for retiring racehorses. Our focus is on individualized care and the strategic rehabilitation and retraining of horses for longterm success and wellness.
Through our train-to-adopt program, we work with horses who have the potential to succeed in new disciplines. Our goal is to prepare them for their next career and to find them the right partner. Through our Sanctuary Program, we are committed to honoring the work of older horses by providing mindfully managed herd life in an idyllic setting with impeccable care.
Thoroughbred Retraining and Adoptions
Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue actively works with OTTB's which can be rehabilitated and retrained for a new career.
Community Education
Through a series of events and scheduled on-site tours, Akindale Thoroughbred Aftercare works to educate the general public about the plight of retiring racehorses and also illuminate and manifest the incredible benefits of the human-animal connection.
Equestrian Education
Akindale works to provide on-hand experiences for amateur equestrians that further their knowledge of working with horses and provides them with the critical basics of responsible horse ownership and exceptional horsemanship.
