Shiny Apples

The Urban Flower Project offer a program for educators called Shiny Apples. It is a small learning community of educators.

Population(s) Served

This program allows young children to receive books free of charge. The goal of this program is to promote reading as an enjoyable activity and to build children's home libraries.

Population(s) Served

This program recruits older males to read to young children, with the purpose of showing that reading is not only an activity that women participate in. Our goal is to motivate young boys to read more often, and to promote the message that reading is not a feminine activity.
