Mission

Burundi Orphan Relief is committed to protecting orphan and at-risk children from the ravages of poverty, civil unrest and disease. Burundi Orphan Relief works through Maranatha Mission Church International in Bujumbura to place orphan and at-risk children in families. Through local volunteers and professional oversight by Dr. Delphin Sula we provide educational, medical, and spiritual support to children and their families. Looking beyond 2017, we are raising funds for a new pilot program - The Graduation Project. Burundi Orphan Relief will test a path to economic self sufficiency for young adult children and their families transitioning out of high school. Utilizing Skills Training, Asset Transfer (an income producing activity such as chickens for short term income and goats for long term economic stability), Savings (learning how to save and budget to manage risks and build resilience) and Coaching by Burundi Orphan Relief volunteers we hope to provide a path out of the endemic poverty that ensnares so many of Burundi's children and families.
