Mission

The mission of Agraj Seva Kendra is to preserve and promote Asian Indian culture and traditions and to promote diversity, thus making the community a livable one. A lot of South Asians have lovingly made America their home and have successfully assimilated into the American mainstream. History has amply exemplified that communities, in general, do not thrive on economic development alone and that social and environmental factors are equally important towards enhancing the general vitality and growth of population. We strive to develop and sustain a culturally rich, harmonious and an inclusive community

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goals are:
1. Leadership development and creating civic awareness among student community. We partner with the Board of Education, North brunswick Township to accomplish the goal, among others.
2.Promote dignity, health, independence and economic security of senior citizens. We partner with Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School - South Asians Total Health Initiative (SATHI) to collaborate in community outreach projects, among others.

We promote understanding and appreciation of Indian culture and traditions through education, art and cultural activities.
Our strategy is to involve teens in volunteering. This brings in significant change in life skills such as showing increased concern for others, improved ability to problem solve and improvements in self perceptions of potency enabling them to BE THE CHANGE thus making a difference in the community.

We recruit elementary, middle and high school students and train them in leadership development. We involve them in art and history projects. Participating students earn community hours for volunteering and rendering service to the community.

Since our formation in 2006, we have achieved considerable progress.
Scores of our Volunteers have earned President's Volunteer Service Award.
We signed a letter of agreement with Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School South Asians Total Health Initiative (SATHI) to collaborate in community outreach projects since August 2018.
We have signed a statement of Intent to partner with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey to support CREHST ( Clinical Research Experience for High School Students) from the scholastic year 2019-2020.
