Mission

The League of Women Voters of New Jersey Education Fund (LWVNJEF) encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education. What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Nonpartisan voter education projects include a toll-free VOTEline, a website offering online resources, Voters Guides, analyses of ballot questions, the annual New Jersey Citizens Guide to Government and moderating candidate debates.
LWVNJ-Education Fund has offered a toll-free VOTEline for almost 60 years. Throughout the year (especially during election season), thousands of New Jersey residents phone the League office for information on elections and voting.
The League's Website at www.lwvnj.org, initiated in 1997, offers a growing list of online resources 24 hours a day. More than 30,000 visit the website each year to obtain information about elections and voting, apply for voter registration forms or absentee ballots, or access the ?Democracy Links.?
The League provides trained moderators for scores of debates between candidates for local and state level elected offices in communities throughout the state. It also sponsors televised debates for candidates for statewide offices and holds community forums on current issues such as property tax reform, campaign finance, health care, education, the environment, and immigration.
