What we aim to solve
Nationwide, research shows that more than 8.5 million kids grow up without a mentor. Big Brothers Big Sisters of America supports agencies across the country as they recruit, screen, and train mentors, called “Bigs,” and match them with youth, called “Littles.”

One to One Mentoring
Big Brothers Big Sisters supports over 150,000 community and site based one-to-one matches. Volunteers and youth are screened and matched in a one-to-one relationships based on interest and suitability.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America supports agencies as they create mentoring relationships that empower youth to reach their full potential. Our programs are designed to help youth increase their self-esteem, do better in school, improve relationships with parents, avoid risky behaviors (such as smoking and drinking), and avoid involvement in the juvenile justice system.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America provides agencies the training, leadership, governance, technology, branding, and partnerships they need to have an impact in their communities.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s Affiliate Support, Training, Marketing & Communications, Youth Protection, Fund Development, Grants, Research, and Information Technology departments are staffed with professionals dedicated to the mission of creating change in communities around the country.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been matching youth in one-to-one mentoring relationships with volunteers and supporting those relationships to make sure youth are on a path to reaching their full potential. In the past 10 years, we have served nearly 2 million children. We will continue to be the gold standard of youth mentoring and to continually improve our data, our programs, and our outcomes.
