Your journey is our mission

aka CareLink- Pennsylvania   |   Media, PA   |  www.carelinkservices.org

Mission

CareLink was founded in 1959 to help people with disabilities to live and work in the community with independence and dignity. At the time, encouraging people with disabilities to be active participants in their recovery and supporting them in the community was a radical alternative to institutionalization. The mission of CareLink Community Support Services is to serve individuals who need specialized supports to achieve recovery, wellness and self-determination. CareLink works to improve people's lives through providing high quality services, advocating for improved systems of care, and increasing public awareness of disability related issues. CareLink also operates in the State of Delaware and has a single governing Board and operational structure.

Care For Developmentally Disabled Individuals

CareLink offers an array of psychosocial rehabilitation services that help people with disabilities to live, work and participate in their community. CareLink operates 29 programs in Pennsylvania that reached over 500 people in 2021. Eighteen of the programs provide comprehensive residential services and have a total capacity of 193. Several programs are structured group homes while others are supervised apartment settings. New programs are designed to meet the specialized needs of people with compound challenges or complex behavioral problems. Non-residential services include the Career Services Department that provides employment and education services; Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation for supports and skill teaching to people living in the community; a specialized partial hospital program for people with problem sexual behavior; and a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Assessment Specialist who insures the linkage of people with serious mental illness to appropriate services countywide.

Policies and processes
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
