Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Hope For Today, Hope For Tomorrow, Hope For Eternity

Bright Hope is an association of over 400 Biblically based churches in rural villages and city slums. These churches are wholistically impacting their communities through programs that provide Hope for Today (meeting immediate needs), Hope For Tomorrow (meeting economic income needs), and Hope for Eternity (meeting spiritual needs).
Problem: millions of people live in isolation and desperate poverty; which can, for those of us wanting to help, feel frustrating, overwhelming and even confusing. Christians innately want to be generous, serve Christ and make a meaningful impact on those living in poverty, we just don’t know how or the best ways to use our resources. Bright Hope unites Christ-followers, with most effective and efficient methods, to bring Hope and help to those living in the world’s darkest slums and neediest remote villages.

How we listen

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Seeking feedback from people served makes programs more responsive and effective. Here’s how this organization is listening.

done We demonstrated a willingness to learn more by reviewing resources about feedback practice.
done We shared information about our current feedback practices.
  • Who are the people you serve with your mission?

We serve people living in extreme poverty, those living on less than $2 a day. This is done through developing the leadership skills within the under-resourced, local, in-country church to then transform their communities. We serve both the church leaders in these impoverished communities, and through the programs designed and implemented with these church leaders, we serve the church and community members.

  • How is your organization using feedback from the people you serve?

To identify bright spots and enhance positive service experiences, To make fundamental changes to our programs and/or operations, To inform the development of new programs/projects, To strengthen relationships with the people we serve, a survey was done to assess & improve communication with Church, community & us (NGO), To understand people's needs and how we can help them achieve their goals

  • What significant change resulted from feedback?

In Bolivia church leaders are trained in leadership skills, church mobilization, administration, healthy Pastors, healthy churches, healthy communities. Participants asked for training in other topics which lead to us creating new curriculum for family empowerment, marriage, and a Pastoring the Pastor program for mentorship and accountability for the Pastors, which they expressed a desire for. In Uganda we have programs providing training, animals and seeds for income generation. Participants expressed a desire for visiting experienced farmers. This lead to a farm visit where the participants learned from experienced Uganda farmers, which lead to ongoing "experience sharing" meetings being added where ongoing learning is shared between participants across the different areas we serve.

  • Which of the following feedback practices does your organization routinely carry out?

We take steps to get feedback from marginalized or under-represented people, We aim to collect feedback from as many people we serve as possible, We take steps to ensure people feel comfortable being honest with us, We engage the people who provide feedback in looking for ways we can improve in response

  • What challenges does the organization face when collecting feedback?

The people we serve tell us they find data collection burdensome, It is difficult to find the ongoing funding to support feedback collection, Staff find it hard to prioritize feedback collection and review due to lack of time, Quantitative data collection is challenging however qualitative data works well for us.
