Trout Unlimited

CVTU continued to support the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission program "Trout in the Classroom" in four middle and high schools during FY 2020. There were no costs involved in maintaining the four programs. Children raise the trout in aquariums provided by CVTU. The CVTU program manager visits the schools periodically, adhering to COVID 19 protocols during the school year, providing information about cold water conservation and the life cycle of trout. In the spring, the children release the adult trout that they raised during the school year in local trout streams in the Cumberland Valley.

During FY 2020, in response to COVID 19 restrictions, CVTU greatly expanded its virtual programs to provide monthly keynote speakers and programs through the internet to inform the CVTU membership on cold water conservation, environmental goals of the Chapter, and the state and health of native brook trout and naturally producing trout in the Cumberland Valley streams.
