What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Transition to Success
Transition to Success is a program that gives young men and women who have left the foster care system, a chance to succeed as adults. When foster care youth turn 18 they are dropped off at a shelter or any other location that the youth can identify. Our program provides these young people with the tools they need to become independent and contributing adults. During their stay, the boys or girls live with a house parent or resident assistant. They are coached on applying for and maintaining a job, and managing finances and home responsibilities as well. They will be given the tools to be productive men and women in our community. In addition to reaching foster care youth this program is also offered to homeless youth and young adults as well.
Group Home
Anchor House Ministries is a non-profit organization that offers a Christian residence for boys ages 10 - 17, who are in crisis. The goal of AH is to provide youth centered treatment in a normalized environment. All residents receive a comprehensive assessment from a Mental Health Provider and an assessment of their life skills, behavior and education needs by our Behavioral Health Technicians. These assessments guide the treatment team in developing a plan that will provide each boy with life skills training, behavior planning, an educational plan, and practical community experience. The philosophy of Anchor House is that all treatment should be client driven. This means that we endeavor to enable young men to manage their own behavior, make sound life choices and positive decisions in preparation for reunion with their family, or independence and self-sufficiency. Anchor House believes that if all parties involved, caseworkers, guardians, Anchor House staff, and outside service providers, work together to empower and guide the youth, then that youth will receive the best possible service and outcomes from our program.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Through individual counseling, life skills training, and practical experience, we endeavor to enable young men to manage their own behavior, make sound life choices, and make positive decisions in preparation for reunion with their family, or independence and self-sufficiency. Anchor House is a residence for boys seeking to provide reconciliation, assimilation and independence to promote a brighter future. Our goal is to become the most effective home for boys in central Florida. It is our intention to increase not only the number of boys served but be a facilitative and meaningful difference in the boys' lives measured in part through their quality of growth educationally, socially, spiritually, emotionally and in preparedness for life. These boys come to Anchor House come from a variety of backgrounds with a myriad of problems, both physical and emotional in nature. Many boys come from broken homes and/or have parents that are dead or incarcerated. They are among the most discarded group of children in the country. They are the ones, that everyone else has given up on and Anchor House has become a last resort for them.
