What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Appomattox Rescue strives to provide the highest-quality services to our citizens in their times of need.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Appomattox County Rescue Squad uses a variety of strategies to meet our mission. We are primarily a volunteer organizaiton and work hard to maintain our volunteer-base. We hold EMT courses regularly which provide the general public the certifications needed to volunteer. Through cooperative parterships, we work to recruit and retain volunteers from local colleges and universities. Through CPR and first aid classes, we assist the general population in beign ready for the emergencies they may encounter. Additionally, we have our own in-house career staffing that covers calls during the day on weekdays.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
To fulfill our mission, Appomattox Rescue takes advantage of several key strengths. With a leadership team made up of 9 officers, every individual is able to contribute his or her own strengths. Among these leaders are EMS instructors, CPR Instructors, and EVOC instructors. By having these individual as a member of our organization, we are able to continually train new and prospective members as well as members fo the community. We have a modern crew hall with a large training room and room for breakout sessions. We are able to glean new volunteers from the community and local colleges and univeristies because of our location in Central Virginia and proximity to numerous schools. Through smart budgeting, we are able to wisely plan for the future.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Though the demand for EMS in our territory continues to grow, we are prepared and responding by continuting to recruit new members and by working hard to maintain our current members through active retention programs. Furthermore, we have a strategic plan laid out to respond to future challenges.
