The Worldwatch Institute is an independent research organization recognized by opinion leaders around the world for its accessible, fact-based analysis of critical global issues. Worldwatch has catalyzed effective environmental decision making since 1974. The Institute is an independent, nonprofit policy research organization based in Washington, DC. Worldwatch's publications are designed to bridge the gap left by more traditional, specialized analyses. Our annual books, "State of the World" and "Vital Signs"; our Worldwatch Papers; and World Watch magazine, are distributed worldwide.
