Alice James Books publishes, promotes, and distributes 6 books of poetry per year.

Alice James Books publishes, promotes, and distributes at least six books of poetry by both established and emerging artists every year. Books are chosen mainly through The Kinereth Gensler Awards, a regional competition, and The Beatrice Hawley Award, a national competition.
 
Alice James Books also partners with Kundiman, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Asian American poetry, to offer the annual Kundiman Poetry Prize, a book publication prize open to all poets of Asian American descent.
