What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
English as a Second Language
Enrollment in the English as a Second Language Program ("ESL") at La Roche has grown exponentially over the past several years. Since 2012, enrollment in the program increased from 17 to 65 students. The ESL program prepares students for everyday communication and for success in their academic programs. The college supports students in the transition to life in an English-speaking environment, and full participation in the life of the college, the community, and the wider world. Among small colleges in the United States, La Roche is ranked 20th among small colleges in international enrollment which makes up almost 20% of its student body.
Study Abroad + Study USA
Established in 2009, the innovative Study Abroad+Study USA program is a unique experience offered to qualified La Roche students. After completing 60 La Roche credits and meeting all eligibility requirements as set forth in the program guidelines, a student may apply for a travel course either internationally or domestically for credit. This experience is offered as a value added component of a La Roche education and there are no additional costs for the trip itself. The unique intercultural experiences offered through the Study Abroad+Study USA Program greatly distinguishes La Roche from other colleges and universities and allows students to gain a cultural learning experience that lasts a lifetime.
Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training
The Development and Humanitrian Aid Training program offers college graduates and working professionals an oppoprtunity to participate in an innovative training, offering a starting point for an career in aid and development. The college partners with RedR UK, one of the world's premier training organizations, to develop these core compentencies: 1) understanding human rights and humanitarian contexts, principles and law; 2) working collaboratively to achieve results; and 3) ensuring safety and security under conditions of pressure and change
Pacem In Terris
Pacem In Terris is Latin for "Peace on Earth" and also the title of Pope John XXIII's encyclical. The Pacem In Terris program was established in the early 1990's to bring students from war-torn countries (e.g., Rwanda, Serbia-Herzegovina) to the campus to study and give back to their home countries. Over 450 students have participated in the program which has changed its profile over the years. Through the generosity of the college's supporters, a handful of deserving scholars continue to be educated through the Pacem program every year.
La Roche College Undergrad and Grad Programs
Undergraduates may choose from more than 50 majors, including the top 10 majors most in demand among today's college students.
