Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Shelter
Our shelter provides a 30-day safe place to female victims (& their children) of DVexperiencing homelessness or to those experiencing homelessness. Advocates are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist the guests in support, education & options as well as provide information & referral to community resources. Weekly education-based life skills & goal planning groups are available to assist the guests in their empowerment.
24-Hour Crisis Hotline
Our hotline provides support & education regarding DV as well as acts as an information & referral 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
Crisis Intervention Advocacy
Our Crisis Intervention Advocates provide support, education & options to DV victims (our services are not therapy or addiction-based). Outreach offices are located throughout our service area in confidential locations (New Kensington, Tarentum, Vandergrift & Verona). Also available areDV-related education-based life skills groups.
Prevention Services
Our Prevention Services department provides free on-going DV awareness education throughout the community. Violenceprevention programs are implemented in local school districts pre-schoolthrough grade 12. DV education is offered to meet any community business or organizational needs: colleges, medical offices, vocational/trade schools, churches, daycares, health/job fairs, etc… Prevention Services also offers volunteer,intern & community services opportunities.
