What we aim to solve New!

Rock the Cause to inspire, educate, and build a new generation of giving. Nonprofits struggle to attract millennial aged donors and volunteers. We engage the millennial audience on their own terms through music streams and downloads, classroom workshops, concerts, volunteer drives, and partnering with artists who are the voice of the generation. We introduce the millennial audiences to charities through our engagement methods. For example Rock the Cause music releases have been streamed over 27 million times. That's a significant amount of people who are discovering and supporting a cause simply by doing something they love - listen to music. We also conduct classroom workshops to educate students on nonprofit volunteer and career opportunities. We help them organize music concerts, student music compilations, and we provide internships that give the students hands-on real life job experiences.

Charting Impact

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?

How will they know if they are making progress?

What have and haven't they accomplished so far?

Rock the Cause is out to make the world a better place through music. Our aim is to become one of the worlds most innovative and respected nonprofits and records labels.

We use our record label, concert events, volunteer drives, and high school music program to raise funds, increase awareness, and recruit volunteers, for other nonprofit organizations.

The worlds only full time nonprofit record label dedicated to releasing music that impacts charity.
Worldwide music distribution
Worldwide social media and digital media capabilities
Large and small event capabilities
In classroom workshops on community service and the business of being a nonprofit
Large and small scale volunteer drive capabilities
Partnerships with celebrities and music artists across the globe

Rock the Cause grew from $59,000 in revenue in 2012 to over $345,000 in revenue in 2013. This growth was derived by revenues from music downloads, concert events, and private donations. In 2013 Rock the Cause gave a total of nearly $250,000 to organizations like Childrens Cancer Research Fund, High School for Recording Arts and more!

Perhaps you know our work. We are the same record label that helped Zach Sobiech to launch his charitable single 'Clouds'. Zach's music continues to inspire millions around the world and has nearly raised 1 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. More recently we released the inspirational hit song 'Hold You Up' by Matt Hires benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities. Then there is also the critically acclaimed Farewell Transmission the Music of Jason Molina, which Rock the Cause released to much fanfare from the likes of NPR, Rolling Stone, Spin and more! The list goes on!

What you really need to know is simple. Over the past 7 years Rock the Cause has grown into one the nations most respected music nonprofits. We have helped dozens of organizations raise awareness, new stewardship, and hundreds of thousands of dollars. Through our work in colleges and high schools across the region we have helped hundreds of students to discover an opportunity to give back.

We are not a pass-through organization. We work hard to raise money. Sometimes it is a 99 cent song download. Other times it is a large scale concert event. All of this requires money for administration, technology, professional services, equipment etc. We deliver impact on a grand scale. Music is our front line social mission.

We are currently working on a tribute compilation to 60's folk icon Donovan with some of today's most exciting artists. Proceeds will benefit families affected by Huntington's Disease. We helped to launch the At Home Project, a series of music singles by artists you hear on the radio everyday, with proceeds benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Organizational Demographics

In order to support nonprofits and gain valuable insight for the sector, GuideStar worked with D5—a five-year initiative to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy—in creating a questionnaire. This section is a voluntary questionnaire that empowers organizations to share information on the demographics of who works in and leads organizations. To protect the identity of individuals, we do not display sexual orientation or disability information for organizations with fewer than 15 staff. Any values displayed in this section are percentages of the total number of individuals in each category (e.g. 20% of all Board members for X organization are female).
