Sustainable Today Television Show

Sustainable Today introduces people to the vast issues that encompass the sustainable movement.  We provide scientific facts about environmental conditions, and present up-to-date news.  We showcase local businesses which are making the world of sustainability accessible to you and me.   Sustainable Today engages industry professionals in an informative, open dialogue,  hosted by Cheri Stuller and Rafael Seigel.

Broadcast in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area
the second Saturday of every month at 8pm on Comcast Channel 11

The Center for a Sustainable Today, convinced the City of Oregon City to designate Atkinson Park and official pesticide free park.   This means that the spraying of chemical herbicides and pesticides harmful to people, pets and wildlife in the park will no longer be done.

So how do we control the invasive underbrush that needs to be removed to maintain a healthy and attractive ecosystem within the park?  It must be done manually.  The City does not have the money nor resources to maintain the park in this manner so, until now, they sprayed the underbrush with herbicide.  To prevent this, we are organizing volunteers to help clear the brush.

The project involves cutting holly and ivy (both invasive species) and hauling the debris to the edge of the park where the city will chip it up and use it as mulch.  Please come and help keep the park beautiful, and environmentally friendly.     Be prepared with gloves and sturdy shoes for working on steep slippery slopes.  We supply the tools, you supply the people power and together as a community we will succeed where the chemicals have failed.

Nestled at the intersection of Division and 12th street in Oregon City, Or.   A new convergence will work it's way to these crossroads.

On January 5, 2009 the Trails Crossing project will be dedicated to the City of Oregon City with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Mayor Alice Norris.

Trails Crossing is the first project of it's kind to be received by the city of Oregon City and Clackamas County.  Trails Crossing truly  represents the place where not just the city of Oregon City but the entire Clackamas County will be crossing the paths of livability, sustainability, and development.

Trails Crossing is an example how community can be created, and the people can take ownership of their neighborhood.   We want to empower the neighborhood to make those social connections that are so vital to a healthy community.

We want to offer a sanctuary to come and enjoy permaculture, rain catchment, bio-dynamic agriculture, and of course VBC.
Design and construction is a collaborative effort between the Center for a Sustainable Today, The Village Building Convergence and Christ the Healer.

Sustaining Cascadia ‘09 convergence is a 12 month educational convergence that will motivate, educate, and inspire people and businesses to be sustainable.

They consist of food (sometimes potluck sometimes catered) drink (no host bar) social networking, viewing of the latest episode of Sustainable Today, and discussion Q& A with the principle movers and shakers featured in the program.

Every month's program is different. different location, different topic.

Each Sustainaing Cascadia event focuses on a major topic of concern within the scope of sustainable living practices. This can include environmental, conservation, social and economic issues and is centered around the TV program on the subject each month.

The event is hosted by The Center for a Sustainable Today, known as STDY (steady). STDY encourages all people to live responsibly and sustainably primarily, through the production and broad distribution of television programming that provides education, information, and examples of practices available today (or in the near future) aimed at adjusting attitudes, behaviors and practices.
