What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Creative Writing Workshops for Kids 8 to 18
Workshops include a maximum of six participants. Sessions are peppered with original and fun writing exercises, but focus primarily on writing--and completing--stories. Each time we meet, students bring copies of the newest drafts of their work to share with the groustudents comfortably and easily provide insightful feedback to their peers.
Every few months, workshop participants are invited to read their polished work at bookstores, libraries, and public Parks. During these exciting events, Writopia Lab's writers share their work with friends, relatives, and with others who come in response to listings in various media.
Writing for Musical Theater
This specialized program works with groups of kids to write and produce musical theater.
Language Play
This program is aimed at three- and four-year-olds, engaging them and their caregivers in language and the storytelling process.
Sleepaway Camp
Writers spend two weeks in a cabin in the woods with 180 other young writers. We do a three-hour writing workshop in the morning and the afternoons are broken into three elective sessions, with swimming, hiking, poetry, spoken word, song writing, filmmaking, and many other options available.
Worldwide Plays Festival
This festival sees professional actors and directors presenting the work of playwrights ages 9 to 18 at off-Broadway theatres.
