Transition to Work

Youth Program: We work with young adults with regards to their resume, prepare for a job interview, and apply for
jobs. We work with local businesses to place clients in jobs
that provide a smooth transition into the working world. For
those who need to develop additional skills and experience, we
assist with placement also in volunteer jobs.

Population(s) Served

Youth: This program teaches
individuals the skills necessary for them to live as independently as
possible. Most young adults with ASD need to learn social skills,
personal finance, community safety, nutrition, cooking, general health,
and personal hygiene. Many young adults with ASD can learn to drive and
obtain their driver’s license, while others learn local bus and bike
routes. We help young adults find housing and achieve independent
living.

Population(s) Served

Parents who have a child with ASD are often overwhelmed by the
special needs of their child, and it can be difficult to find and
understand the resources available to them. We will soon be expanding our services
for parents of youth and young adults with ASD so that we can assist
them with navigating the system of service providers, medical
insurance, disability-related expenses, community programs, special
education programs, and parent support groups. Our goal is to help
advocate for their child’s needs.

Due to the stress that these parents live with every day, marriages
are often neglected. For single parents, raising their child can be
even more challenging. We plan to help families stay healthy and
strong with our family support programs.
